Current GEDCOM data as at 26 Jun 1999:
The GEDCOM of 1000 Eversheds Some time ago Terry Evershed (Q/21)
decided to start putting the whole Evershed family tree into Gedcom format. This is a mammoth task, and by April 1999 he had done roughly one third. This is roughly 200 KBytes of data. He realises it is incomplete and of course still has some errors however he agreed that it could be made available on the Internet.
It covers pedigree sheets 'Front', A to G and part of H.
This means there are now four sources of the family tree;
- Terry's hand drawn tree (previously Dendy's)
Terry's Gedcom file
Peter's 'A History of the Evershed Family'
Peter's Data files
There are inevitably many differences between them, and any suspected errors should be reported to the authors. Messages for Peter or Terry can be sent by Email via
Bryan Evershed.
Would you like to be branded as a computer geek? If you don't see your sheet here, you could be the first
out of your entire sheet to digitise your family tree data. As you can tell, there are not many sheets that have yet been done in GEDCOM format. Luckily, there are many applications out there that will let
you do it--not to mention that you can get most of the data from the ASCII Charts.Brother's Keeper for the PC is the one I come up with off the top of my head. A search for "genealogy software GEDCOM"
should pull up a plethora of perfect programmes. If you have any questions to help you get started, just drop Bryan
or me a line.
